Ed
Hartman is a drummer and percussionist in Seattle, Washington who owns
a Drumshop (The Drum Exchange), a record company (Olympic Records), an entertainment agency (Olympic Productions), a teaching studio (Ed
Hartman Percussion Studio), a number of musical ensembles (The
Olympic Marimba Band, Northwest Passage). (see menu on left).
The Drum Exchange specializes in used drum and percussion
equipment (drumsets, mallet instruments, etc.) and some new equipment
(especially CHEAP stuff!)
Olympic Records features recordings of Ed Hartman. ("The River",
Marimbells of Christmas") and other artists ("Northwest Passage" a
compilation CD of NW artists). We also distribute other artists products,
occassionally. Olympic Publications publishes sheet music and music-related
educational books and sources ("The Rhythm Method"-rhythmic notation,
"A Beginners Guide to Mallet Instruments"-video, and an upcoming book
about Mallet Instruments.)
Olympic Productions is a booking agency for other musicians
and groups. We book a lot of weddings and private parties, along with
some festivals and college concerts.
Ed Hartman Percussion Studio is my
teaching studio that features video recording of lessons, play-a-long
(I play keyboards), and a ridiculously comprehensive program of instruction
for drumset, congas, hand percussion, mallet instruments (marimba,
vibes), and symphonic percussion (timpani, traps, etc.). I also write
books on music (educational and sheet music)
Ed's performance
groups, The Olympic Marimba Band and Ed
Hartman Solo Marimba,
perform at schools, fairs, festivals and events throughout the year,
as well as private parties. As a soloist, he performs on Marimba (7
1/2 foot long Honduras Rosewood) and Vibraphone (Metal bars). Ed endorses
Yamaha Instruments, and does educational clinics in music stores and
schools.
